The free plan includes basic search by file name and type. AI-powered semantic search — which finds files by meaning using vector embeddings — is a Premium feature. The Premium plan also includes AI document chat for deeper content analysis.
AI search uses metadata and file names to find your files. When you opt into the premium AI features, document text is extracted and converted to embeddings for semantic search. This processing is transient — neither Unstructured.io nor OpenAI retain your content.
Yes. AI search features are opt-in and can be disabled at any time from your settings. Disabling it stops future processing while preserving existing search capabilities.
